Jazzmine ‘Rural Black Doula,’ originally from Chicago, began her yoga practice during college in 2010. Although her yoga roots began in Vinyasa Yoga, she received her certification in Hatha Yoga of the Himalayan Tradition and SomaYoga Therapy at the Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute. After receiving her Yoga Alliance RYT 200 in 2022, she started Kindred from her home near Des Moines, IA, and works to establish regular group classes alongside community members and partners.
She shares her Soma Yoga practice, which integrates traditional yoga practices, resting and breathing, therapeutic yoga, the re-education of the mind-body connection, holistic medicine (Ayurveda), and shadow work. She emphatically believes yoga should center and affirms ALL bodies, abilities, beliefs, practices, and healing spectrums. Her classes are musically inspired, fun, energetic, light-hearted, and for the culture! Jazzmine is also a Ph.D. student studying Black midwifery and Full Spectrum Doula.
